Nuclear Medicine Technologist (Nuc Med Tech UP)
Location: Peoria, Illinois

Job Description
- Perform routine and specialized nuclear medicine procedures for patients of all ages to confirm or deny required treatment.
- Adapt procedures to obtain specific diagnostic results under radiologist direction.
Essential Functions
- Conduct diagnostic Nuclear Medicine procedures ensuring accurate and complete examinations within Medical Imaging guidelines and standards.
- Exhibit competency in diagnostic imaging and radionuclide therapy.
- Schedule procedures, order radiopharmaceuticals, and prepare patients according to guidelines.
- Administer and document all radiopharmaceuticals.
- Maintain radiation protection practices to keep personal exposure ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable).
- Perform equipment quality control and document quality control records and camera floods.
- Comply with radioactive material license and radiation safety documentation requirements.
- Obtain lab specimens and perform bedside lab testing with quality control per medical orders and hospital policies.
- Maintain knowledge of equipment operation, troubleshoot issues, and ensure equipment safety.
- Maintain clean work areas, stock supplies, and verify accessories.
- Handle radioactive packages, prepare doses, and manage radioactive waste storage.
- Knowledgeable in Hot Lab procedures, thyroid ablations, therapies, Schilling's and Red Cell mass procedures.
- Promote patient and staff safety through proper use of lift equipment and safe patient handling.
- Support Nuclear Medicine/PET Department functions to meet patient needs and expectations.
- Train fellow technologists and students, using resources productively to promote cost-effective care.
- Process films and paperwork promptly to ensure timely reporting.
- Coordinate patient flow efficiently, including patient transport and managing multiple patients safely.
- Accurately enter patient information into RIS and medical records for efficient throughput.
- Maintain QA, QC, and QI programs.
- Foster a professional, respectful, and productive learning environment among staff and students.
Contract Length
- 26 weeks (approximately 6 months)

Education Requirements
- Diploma in related field OR
- Certificate in Radiologic Technology
Required Certifications & Licensure
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- IEMA
- Nuclear Medicine Tech Certification (NMTCB) OR
- ARRT (Nuclear Medicine)
