Job Description
This entry-level position works under immediate to general supervision of a mentor/preceptor to develop competencies in delivering specialized cardiovascular and/or radiologic technology services to adult and pediatric patients. The role supports medical staff in diagnosis, care, treatment, and monitoring of a range of conditions from simple to complex.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide safe, high-quality, efficient, and patient-centered care in various settings including acute inpatient, outpatient physician practices, diagnostic/urgent care centers, and remote clinics.
- Prepare patients for procedures and correlate clinical history with physician orders.
- Communicate and collaborate with patients, families, and multidisciplinary care teams to achieve clinical and operational goals.
- Operate specialized cardiovascular and/or radiologic equipment to perform diagnostic, interventional, and surgical procedures within scope of practice.
- Conduct post-procedure reviews to ensure documentation and technical quality meet department protocols and accreditation standards.
- Transfer images and data to archival systems, enter technical data/findings, and prepare studies for physician reporting.
- Perform operator-level quality control, cleaning, and high-level disinfecting of equipment per manufacturer and regulatory guidelines.
- Participate in continuing education, professional development, and research to maintain competencies and improve care.
Required Skills & Experience
- Knowledge and skill in cardiovascular and/or radiologic technology, medical imaging, medical terminology, patient positioning, and medical ethics.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and reliably report to work as scheduled.
- Sensitivity to patients’ physical and psychological needs.
- Accuracy in maintaining records and handling names, numbers, and codes.
- Ability to draw conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.
- Discretion in handling confidential information and sound judgment.
- Ability to multi-task and remain calm under stress.
- Understanding of operations, policies, and procedures.
- Professional, polite, courteous, compassionate, and cooperative communication with staff, patients, and families.
- High initiative, effort, and commitment to completing assignments efficiently.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and attention to detail.
- Core knowledge of normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology, cardiovascular and/or radiologic technologies, and related terminology.
- Ability to apply core-level specialty theory, practices, and techniques.
