Physical Therapist I - Contract

Job Summary

• Perform initial examinations and provide physical therapy interventions to a diverse patient population.
• Work under supervision of Therapy Manager (Inpatient/Acute) or Professional Practice Manager (Outpatient and Sports Therapy).
• Opportunity to rotate across inpatient, outpatient, and acute services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct initial examinations, establish goals, plan and implement treatment interventions.
• Perform timely re-examinations and modify treatment plans accordingly.
• Coordinate with other disciplines as needed.
• Complete all documentation timely: initial exams, progress notes, monthly summaries, discharge summaries.
• Provide training to families, care partners, and medical personnel.
• Recommend durable medical equipment and write letters of medical necessity when appropriate.
• Participate in discharge planning and recommend continued physical therapy or home exercise programs.
• Attend conferences, rounds, in-services, meetings, and assigned clinics.
• May be assigned additional patients based on staffing needs.
• Maintain therapy attendance records, patient charges, and statistics.
• Participate in supervision of Rehab Patient Care Associates, volunteers, and students.
• Must be a current member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
• Follow all facility policies and procedures.

Contract Length

• Approximately 13 weeks (89 days ≈ 13 weeks)

Qualifications

• 0 to 1 year of experience.
• Current New York State Physical Therapy license.
• Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient with MS Office Suite (intermediate level).
