Job Description
Under general supervision, provide respiratory therapy services across all appropriate pediatric age levels and areas served by the department.
Essential Responsibilities
- Administer therapeutic treatments as prescribed by medical staff.
- Record treatment information and patient responses in computerized medical records.
- Serve as a resource to medical staff.
- Perform invasive and noninvasive diagnostic testing and patient monitoring.
- Provide age-appropriate respiratory care.
- Ensure respiratory equipment is cleaned and maintained.
- Maintain respiratory therapy records.
- Participate as a member of the quick response team for cardiac and respiratory arrests.
General Responsibilities
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Contract Length
- Approximately 13 weeks (89 days rounded to nearest week).
Experience Requirements
- Specialty Experience: None required; however, 2 years of respiratory care experience in a critical care setting is preferred.
- Prior Travel Experience: Not specified or required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of respiratory therapy procedures and techniques, including operation and repair of respiratory equipment.
- Clinical decision-making skills related to pulmonary and cardiac patient care, appropriate to patient age.
- Ability to interpret information to identify patient needs.
- Ability to work under stress.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to maintain positive working relationships.
- Some computer skills required.
This position is suitable for respiratory care practitioners with pediatric experience seeking a short-term contract in a critical care environment.
