Dietitian (Contract) - New York, NY
Job Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Clinical Nutrition, provide quality nutrition care and education to patients and family members. Assess patients' nutritional status and recommend appropriate nutrition therapy. Provide nutrition counseling as indicated. Support patient-focused care within assigned units while adhering to department and hospital standards and policies.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Evaluate nutritional status of patients using electronic medical records and interdisciplinary team input.
- Document findings in the medical record according to policy.
- Provide nutrition counseling to patients and families.
- Evaluate and adjust nutrition care plans for effectiveness.
- Assess need for enteral and parenteral nutrition support and provide recommendations.
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and communicate effectively with healthcare team members.
- Assist with discharge planning as needed.
- Precept dietetic interns, instructing on required competencies and providing feedback.
- Participate in community-focused education programs.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience, including dietetic internship.
- Registered Dietitian (RD) credential from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR), or RD eligible with successful completion of the RD exam within three months of hire.
- Basic proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Contract Length
- Approximately 13 weeks (88 days rounded to 13 weeks).
