Description

Surgical Assistant Travel Position

Location: Rochester, Minnesota
Employment Type: Travel (Clinical-Allied-Travel)
Contract Length: 38 weeks


Job Overview

  • Assist surgeons/physicians during surgical procedures
  • Understand human surgical anatomy and surgical skills such as suturing and proper use of surgical instruments
  • Knowledge of aseptic technique, perioperative policies, and procedural guidelines
  • Ability to anticipate surgeon needs in a multi-specialty perioperative setting including:
    • General surgery
    • Orthopedic surgery
    • Neurological surgery
    • Spinal surgery
    • ENT/radical neck surgery
    • Gynecological surgery
    • Urology surgery
    • Cardiovascular surgery
    • Thoracic surgery
    • Vascular surgery
    • Trauma surgery
    • Plastic surgery
    • Colon-rectal surgery
    • Pediatric surgery

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Graduate of a Surgical Assistant Program with relevant operating room experience within the past 3 years
  • Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) through NCCSA or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) through NBSTSA preferred
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Health Care Providers (American Heart Association or American Red Cross) required
  • Ability to adapt to unpredictable perioperative situations
  • Strong communication skills, patient-centered and customer-focused
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision

Experience

  • Specialty Years of Experience: At least 3 years of relevant operating room experience within the past 3 years
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required or mentioned
