Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

Location: Chapel Hill, North Carolina
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Provide competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards in a hospital setting. Responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process.


Essential Duties

  • Participate in identifying and meeting own learning needs; attend education programs.
  • Use patient education materials relevant to the patient population with assistance.
  • Assess readiness to learn and developmental level of patients/families/caregivers.
  • Identify expected patient outcomes and participate in care plan revisions.
  • Communicate relevant information to promote continuity of care.
  • Demonstrate competence in care of patients with complex problems, including physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects.
  • Perform bedside point of care testing as required.
  • Organize and prioritize care according to patient/family needs.
  • Consult appropriate resources timely for complex care issues or discharge planning.
  • Develop professional growth goals with assistance and participate in unit goals and performance improvement.
  • Promote a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment.
  • Recognize and synthesize complex assessment data to determine care priorities.
  • Collaborate with patients/families to prepare or update care plans, addressing cultural and ethnic issues.
  • Use multidisciplinary resources and communication effectively in planning care.
  • Stay informed on relevant research and bring ideas for practice improvement.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of nursing experience.
  • Education: Nursing Diploma OR ADN/ASN from an accredited school of Nursing.
  • Licensure: Licensed Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider (AHA or ARC).

Preferred Qualifications

  • BSN or MSN from an accredited school of Nursing.
