Job Opportunity: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Location: Shelby, Montana

Contract Length: 12 weeks

Job Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for performing basic nursing duties including:

• Executing physician orders
• Operating pill call and sick call
• Assisting physicians with examinations and treatments
• Performing technical/clinical procedures within the scope of LPN licensure
• Managing medication dispensing and documentation
• Maintaining medical supplies and equipment inventory
• Performing emergency procedures as needed
• Documenting and reporting activities according to policies

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in evaluating medical services to prevent duplication or inappropriate use
• Maintain security and confidentiality of medical records
• Observe and record patient behavior
• Inspect medical units for contraband and safely store or dispose of supplies
• Prepare and maintain various medical and operational records and reports
• Interpret medical and legal documents related to patient care
• Communicate effectively with administration, staff, patients, and visitors, often in challenging environments
• Support accreditation efforts by providing efficient and appropriate medical services
• Prepare safety and accident reports and respond to serious incidents
• Escort or coordinate patient movement for medical treatment
• Conduct investigations and inquiries as directed, exercising independent judgment
• Work rotating shifts and perform security checks in confined areas
• Handle potentially hostile interactions with tact and professionalism

Required Qualifications

• Graduate from an approved school of nursing with a certificate as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
• Licensed to practice as an LPN in the state of Montana
• Valid driver's license

Experience Requirements

• No specific years of experience required
• No prior travel experience required

Work Environment

• May involve working in a correctional facility setting with inmates/residents
• Exposure to potentially hostile or antagonistic behavior
• Rotating shifts and confined work areas

This position is suitable for LPNs comfortable with a secure, correctional healthcare environment and capable of managing a variety of nursing and administrative duties.
