Job Overview

• Position requires a thorough understanding of cardiac, vascular, respiratory, and renal physiology and pathology.
• Responsibilities include assisting with orientation and training of Cath Lab staff, participating in special projects and committees.
• Must adhere to medical ethics principles relevant to the role.
• Proficient in ECG interpretation, recognizing lethal arrhythmias, myocardial infarctions, and heart chamber enlargement.
• Knowledgeable in cardiac medications, their pharmacokinetics, indications, and dosages.
• Able to recognize and alert physicians to abnormalities in clinical lab values (Arterial Blood Gases, electrolytes, hemoglobin, BUN, creatinine).
• Skilled in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) standards.
• Monitors diagnostic cardiac catheter procedures and intervenes appropriately during lethal arrhythmias.
• Identifies coronary anatomy, cardiac pressure waveforms, and calculates hemodynamic parameters.
• Performs and documents cardiac catheterization events and measurements (cardiac outputs, O2 saturations, ACT).
• Monitors percutaneous interventions and understands various extraction devices and thrombolytic therapy.
• Familiar with electrophysiologic testing, pacemaker implants, therapeutic ablation, and implantable cardioverter defibrillators.
• Competent in using Cath Lab fluoroscopy systems to assist physicians during procedures.

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Qualifications

• High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited Allied Health Sciences program (e.g., Cardiovascular Technology, Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Therapy, Exercise Science, Cardiac or Vascular Sonography, or equivalent).
• Certification required:

  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or
  • Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) or
  • Radiology Technologist (ARRT) with Cardiac Interventional (CI) or Vascular Interventional (VI) credentials.
• Valid BCLS certification required.
• ACLS certification required within six (6) months of hire.
