Description
Sonographer (Ob/Gyn) - Southgate, Kentucky
Job Overview
- Perform clinical imaging duties specializing in Maternal Fetal Medicine under physician and clinical manager supervision.
- Conduct ultrasound examinations following AIUM and ACOG guidelines.
- Provide quality patient care, accurate record keeping, and equipment maintenance.
- Assist physicians with ultrasound-guided procedures.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, safety, and infection control policies.
- Participate in departmental meetings, peer review, and process improvement activities.
Responsibilities
- Perform Obstetric/Gynecological sonography imaging and procedures.
- Follow established testing protocols and professional standards.
- Produce quality study images using appropriate imaging equipment.
- Prepare patients and obtain relevant history prior to exams.
- Explain procedures to patients, families, and staff.
- Manage workflow efficiently and assist colleagues as needed.
- Maintain accurate order entry and exam tracking in hospital information systems.
- Communicate equipment maintenance needs and operate equipment safely.
- Adhere to workplace policies including attendance, parking, tobacco use, and safety.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 1 year experience in high-risk or office-based OB/GYN ultrasound diagnostics and procedures.
- Proficient in routine OB/GYN ultrasound techniques including M-mode, pulse and color Doppler.
- Strong knowledge of fetal and cross-sectional anatomy and medical terminology.
- Ability to perform vital signs: pulse rate, blood pressure, respiration rate, oxygen saturation.
- Ability to provide technical information to interpreting physicians.
- Familiarity with PACS and structured reporting systems.
- Strong customer service and communication skills for interaction with staff, patients, and physicians.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Ultrasound or Allied Health
OR - Graduate from an Accredited Ultrasound training program
- Maintain 30 CEUs through ARDMS every 3 years
Certifications & Licensure
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in Obstetrics and Gynecology
- BLS (American Heart Association)
