LPN Ambulatory - Rochester, Minnesota

Job Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides nursing care to assigned patients under the direct supervision of an RN or other assigned supervisor. The LPN collects data through observation and communicates information to assist in patient assessment and care planning. Responsibilities include delivering care according to the patient care plan, organizational policies, and principles of relationship-based care. The LPN also participates as a member of the healthcare team and may be involved in mentoring, instructing, and quality improvement projects.

  • 13 weeks

Required Skills & Experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, nights, holidays, weekends, and on-call
  • Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting
  • Computer skills
  • Minimum 1 year LPN experience within the last 5 years (if graduation from Practical Nursing school was more than 2 years ago)

Education Requirements

  • Graduate of a school of Practical Nursing
  • If graduation occurred more than 2 years ago, at least 1 year of LPN experience in an applicable setting is required

Certifications & Licensure

  • Current LPN license by applicable state requirements
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (may not be required for off-campus positions depending on work area)

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Prior experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems
