Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Clinical Resource Unit (Float Pool)

Location: Normal, Illinois
Specialty: RN - Clinical Resource Unit (Float Pool)

Job Summary

  • Provide specialized nursing care across multiple inpatient units including Medical-Oncology, Surgical-Orthopedic, Cardiovascular Care Unit, Progressive Care Unit, Mental Health Unit, and Acute Rehab.
  • Care for patients with diagnoses such as coronary artery disease, myocardial infarction, strokes, cancer, post-surgical care, and more.
  • Fast-paced, dynamic environment utilizing current technology and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Float to various inpatient units and provide direct nursing care.
  • Perform initial patient assessments and develop, implement, and modify individualized care plans.
  • Administer medications and evaluate their effects.
  • Prepare patients for procedures and provide post-operative care.
  • Perform IV venipuncture and blood administration.
  • Document all nursing care accurately using EMR.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care.
  • Manage care for acute and chronically ill cardiac and pulmonary patients.
  • Educate patients and families on care plans and discharge instructions.
  • Delegate tasks to healthcare technicians and validate completion.
  • Maintain patient safety through adherence to fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, isolation precautions, and ambulation safety.
  • Conduct bedside shift reports, hourly rounding, and maintain patient communication boards.
  • Handle conflict management and maintain professional communication with team members.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Ability to float to multiple units and care for diverse patient populations.
  • Experience managing acute and chronically ill cardiac and pulmonary patients.
  • Proficient in medication administration and evaluation.
  • Skilled in IV venipuncture, blood administration, and post-operative care.
  • Strong documentation skills using EMR systems.
  • Ability to educate patients and families effectively.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback and support peer development.
  • Strong critical thinking and nursing judgment skills.
  • Effective collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to patient safety and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Ability to delegate appropriately and follow up on delegated tasks.

Education & Licensure

  • Required: College diploma in nursing.
  • Required Certifications: BLS (AHA), Illinois Nursing License.
