MRI Technologist Position - New York, NY

Job Summary

Operate and prepare specialized MRI equipment to perform magnetic imaging procedures. Apply technical judgment to obtain diagnostic-quality studies according to protocols and patient needs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform MRI imaging procedures.
  • Position patients and coils for optimal imaging.
  • Educate patients about the procedure, area to be imaged, and instructions.
  • Review patient safety questionnaires before MRI scan.
  • Label MRI images according to department standards.
  • Evaluate images for technical quality and ensure timely transmission to PACS.
  • Complete studies in Radiology Information System (IDX) promptly.
  • Maintain cleanliness of radiology room and equipment at shift start and end.
  • Scan patient-related documents.
  • Maintain necessary supplies and accessories.
  • Record patient tracking information accurately in IDX.
  • Schedule exams in IDX as needed.
  • Report equipment repairs or unsafe conditions.
  • Assist physicians as required.
  • Call for in-patients as needed.
  • Perform clerical duties when support personnel are absent.
  • Adhere strictly to safety guidelines to prevent ferromagnetic material introduction.
  • Follow infection control policies to protect self, patients, and staff.
  • Attend in-services and professional development meetings.
  • Maintain required licensure in good standing.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong background in cross-sectional anatomy, physical sciences, and MRI physics.
  • Excellent technical skills and knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
  • Minimum 2 years of MRI experience (preferred experience stated as 2 years; no conflicting higher requirement found).

Required Education

  • Graduate of an AMA/J.C.E.R.T. approved Radiologic Technology program.

Required Certifications & Licensure

  • New York State License in Diagnostic Radiology.
  • ARRT MRI registry certification.
  • BCLS Certification.

  • 9 weeks (interpreted from contract_length value of 9).
