Registered Nurse (RN) - OR Surgicenter
Location: Champaign, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical-Nursing
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
The staff Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care to a group of patients during a designated time frame. Responsibilities include utilizing the nursing process, current nursing trends, technology, and resources to deliver quality care within the institution's philosophy.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform all unit-specific nursing duties within the scope of service.
- Implement procedures and theories related to the OR surgical center practice area.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
- Complete initial patient assessments upon admission and develop appropriate plans of care based on patient and family needs.
- Implement and modify plans of care and nursing interventions as needed.
- Ensure patient and employee safety by reporting or correcting hazards and incidents.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare team members to resolve issues.
- Provide constructive feedback to peers and engage in professional development.
- Identify personal learning needs and pursue solutions.
- Fulfill all departmental competency requirements.
Department-Specific Functions:
- Complete patient assessments reflecting patient condition and document in EPIC.
- Recognize normal and abnormal findings and notify physicians appropriately.
- Establish patient care plans and set goals.
- Establish IVs on patients over 8 years old and practice the 5 rights of medication administration.
- Participate in the surgical time-out process with OR RN team.
Requirements
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of relevant nursing experience.
Education
- Required: ASN (Associate of Science in Nursing)
- Preferred: BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing)
Certifications & Licensure
- Illinois state RN License in good standing
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from American Heart Association
