Job Summary

The staff Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care to a group of patients during a designated time frame. Responsibilities include utilizing the nursing process, current nursing trends, technology, and resources to deliver quality care within the institution's philosophy.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform all unit-specific nursing duties within the scope of service.
• Implement procedures and theories related to the OR surgical center practice area.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
• Complete initial patient assessments upon admission and develop appropriate plans of care based on patient and family needs.
• Implement and modify plans of care and nursing interventions as needed.
• Ensure patient and employee safety by reporting or correcting hazards and incidents.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare team members to resolve issues.
• Provide constructive feedback to peers and engage in professional development.
• Identify personal learning needs and pursue solutions.
• Fulfill all departmental competency requirements.

Department-Specific Functions:

• Complete patient assessments reflecting patient condition and document in EPIC.
• Recognize normal and abnormal findings and notify physicians appropriately.
• Establish patient care plans and set goals.
• Establish IVs on patients over 8 years old and practice the 5 rights of medication administration.
• Participate in the surgical time-out process with OR RN team.

Requirements

Experience

• Minimum 3 years of relevant nursing experience.

Education

• Required: ASN (Associate of Science in Nursing)
• Preferred: BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing)

Certifications & Licensure

• Illinois state RN License in good standing
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from American Heart Association

Prior Travel Experience
