Job Summary

Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards in a hospital setting. Responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process.

Essential Duties

• Participate in ongoing education and identify learning needs.
• Use patient education materials relevant to the patient population.
• Assess readiness to learn and developmental level of patients and caregivers.
• Identify expected patient outcomes and participate in care plan revisions.
• Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team members to promote continuity of care.
• Demonstrate competence in caring for patients with complex problems, including physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects.
• Perform bedside point of care testing as required.
• Organize and prioritize care according to patient and family needs.
• Consult appropriate resources for complex care issues and discharge planning.
• Participate in unit goals, performance improvement, and promote cost-effective care.
• Promote a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment.
• Recognize and synthesize complex assessment data to determine care priorities.
• Collaborate with patients and families in planning care, addressing cultural and ethnic considerations.
• Stay informed on relevant research and bring applicable ideas to the team.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience.
• Ability to circulate for C-sections.
• Ability to triage for OB patients.

Education Requirements

• Nursing Diploma OR
• ADN or ASN from an accredited school of Nursing.

Preferred:

• BSN or MSN from an accredited school of Nursing.

Required Certifications & Licensure

• Licensed Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider (AHA or ARC).
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (AHA or ARC).
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).

Prior Travel Experience

• Not specified / not required.

This position is suitable for nurses with experience in labor and delivery, recovery, and postpartum care who meet the certification and licensure requirements and are comfortable working in a hospital setting with complex patient needs.
