Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel Position

Location: Watonga, Oklahoma
Employment Type: Health Services - Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Provide comprehensive nursing care including executing Licensed Independent Provider’s orders, medication administration, and assisting in patient examinations and treatments.
• Apply nursing and supervisory techniques in the care, treatment, and referrals of inmates/residents.
• Attend sick calls with physicians, prepare inmates/residents for examination, and manage medication dispensing and documentation.
• Examine and assess inmates/residents with illnesses or injuries; refer to emergency or appropriate healthcare facilities as needed.
• Perform emergency procedures and coordinate with Licensed Independent Providers for treatment orders.
• Supervise licensed vocational/practical nursing staff and non-licensed medical staff.
• Monitor inpatient hospitalizations and provide guidance on nursing care.
• Maintain security and confidentiality of medical records.
• Assist with medical file reviews, pharmacy audits, and compliance with pharmacy laws.
• Observe and record inmate/resident behavior and inspect medical units for contraband.
• Provide health counseling and education individually or in groups.
• Prepare and maintain medical and operational records and reports.
• Participate in accreditation processes (NCCHC/ACA/JCAHO) and safety evaluations.
• Escort and coordinate movement of inmates/residents for medical treatment.
• Perform searches for contraband and engage in security functions including working rotating shifts.
• Respond to emergencies, administer basic emergency medical aid, and assist in evacuations.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program with a degree or diploma in nursing.
• Current nursing licensure in the state of Oklahoma.
• Minimum Specialty Experience: 1 year of professional nursing experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license required.
