Job Opportunity: Ultrasound Technologist (0-2 yrs) - Contract

Location: New York, NY
Contract Length: 8 weeks


Job Summary

The Ultrasound Technologist performs or assists in ultrasound examinations, provides technical assistance to Radiologists, and maintains ultrasound equipment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and examine patients, verify identity, and obtain medical history.
  • Ensure ultrasound exams correlate with patient clinical history; inform physician of any contraindications.
  • Operate, adjust, and maintain ultrasound equipment; report malfunctions.
  • Communicate exam procedures and instructions to patients and healthcare staff.
  • Develop or modify procedure plans using professional judgment to optimize exam results.
  • Analyze sonographic findings to provide comprehensive exams for physician diagnosis.
  • Perform measurements and calculations following laboratory and ACR protocols.
  • Notify healthcare providers when immediate medical attention is needed.
  • Record diagnostic images and data for physician review and archival purposes.
  • Provide oral summaries of preliminary findings to radiologists.
  • Maintain adequate supplies and a clean, safe work environment.
  • Assist in orientation and mentoring of new Ultrasound personnel.
  • May handle scheduling, phone calls, and transportation coordination.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of office and administrative practices.
  • Skilled in use of personal computers and software.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and discretion.
  • High School graduate.
