Job Opportunity: Neurodiagnostic Tech II

Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Clinical - Allied - Travel
Contract Length: 14 weeks


Job Summary

  • Prepare patients for a variety of neurodiagnostic procedures including routine EEG, EMG, long-term and intraoperative monitoring, evoked potentials, nerve conduction velocities, autonomic testing, Neuro Interventional radiology WADA, and PET scans.
  • Perform diagnostic and investigative studies in the lab, bedside, and critical care units for patients of all ages.
  • Accurately apply electrodes using the International 10-20 System and ensure electrode impedances meet standards.
  • Document comprehensive patient histories including seizure types, neurological symptoms, and medications.
  • Explain test procedures to patients and families and recognize medical contraindications.
  • Perform neurodiagnostic procedures under limited supervision according to lab standards.
  • Prepare testing supplies, exam rooms, and equipment.
  • Adjust controls and use alternative methods to obtain optimal recordings, including artifact recognition and activation procedures.
  • Follow Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) Observer I standards for communication and quality EEG recordings.
  • Begin training and observe EMG, EVP, Autonomics, Intraoperative Monitoring (IOM), WADA, and PET procedures.
  • Troubleshoot software errors, equipment malfunctions, and technical issues related to patient care.
  • Assist with documentation, charge capture, scheduling, and patient check-in.
  • May float to other sites as needed to support department operations.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven ability to perform Electroencephalography (EEG).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Neurodiagnostic Technician (based on preferred experience, use higher value).

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience with Nerve Conduction Velocity Testing (EMG/NCV).
  • Experience with Autonomics, Long Term Monitoring, Evoked Potentials, and Magnetoencephalography.

Education Requirements

  • Required: High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Graduate of an accredited Neurodiagnostic Technology program accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation and the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalography and Evoked Potentials (ABRET).

Certifications & Licensure

  • Required: American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider or equivalent within 90 days of hire.
  • Preferred: Registration by ABRET in at least one of the following:
    • Registered Electroencephalography Technologist (EEG)
    • Registered Nerve Conduction Velocity Testing (EMG/NCV)
    • Certified Autonomic Professional (CAP)
    • Certified Long Term Monitoring Technologist (CLTM)
    • Registered Evoked Potential Technologist
