Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Hospice

Location: Basking Ridge, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 26 weeks

Job Description

• Perform patient assessments to determine appropriateness for hospice care, learning needs, and progress toward goals.
• Develop and implement plans of care for patients and families.
• Maintain visit productivity standards and demonstrate knowledge of insurance reimbursement.
• Complete admission, discharge, and re-visit assessments and documentation within required timeframes.
• Use age-appropriate teaching methods and document patient education.
• Manage case responsibilities including prioritizing care needs, revising care plans, and ensuring compliance with hospice regulations and insurance guidelines.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team (IDT) meetings every 2 weeks and communicate progress toward goals.
• Maintain a safe environment by following infection control measures and managing medications safely, including routine reconciliation and maintaining current orders.
• Participate in monthly staff meetings, performance improvement programs, utilization review meetings, and provide mentorship and orientation to new employees.
• Assist with agency growth through cross-training and accepting additional assignments as needed.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• 2-3 years of experience as an RN in a home hospice environment (highest required experience: 3 years)
• Current New Jersey RN License
• Valid New Jersey driver’s license
• BLS certification required
• Experience using an EMR system
• Excellent critical thinking and communication skills
