Job Summary

• Deliver ionizing radiation therapy treatments as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist.
• Administer prescribed doses of radiation to specific body parts using radiation therapy equipment.
• Prepare and construct immobilization devices as needed.
• Maintain and stock treatment and simulation rooms.
• Verify correct patient prior to each procedure.
• Educate patients and families about simulation and treatment.
• Schedule patients for treatment courses and coordinate with other departments as needed.
• Provide physical support and reassurance to patients during treatment.
• Monitor patients for adverse reactions and report or respond accordingly.
• Record all treatment deliveries and maintain patient treatment records.
• Report any treatment errors to the physics department and radiation oncologist.
• Perform weekly chart checks and billing audits.
• Operate and maintain radiation therapy equipment, including linear accelerators.
• Perform basic dosimetry calculations.
• Follow radiation protection principles for patient and staff safety.
• Train radiation therapy students.
• Assist physicians, physicists, and dosimetrists in preparing radiation treatment plans.
• Perform and deliver Total Body Irradiation (TBI) treatments per protocol.

Required Skills & Experience

• Successful radiation therapy internship.
• Excellent patient relations skills.
• Strong technical and computer usage skills.
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Education & Certifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• ARRT registration in radiation therapy or board eligible by completing an appropriate radiation therapy program.
• Must pass ARRT board exam within three months of hire.
• Continuing education required to maintain ARRT registry.
• BLS certification with ability to perform CPR in medical emergencies.
