Job Opportunity: X-Ray Technician (0-2 years experience) - Contract
Location: New York, NY
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Job Summary
The X-Ray Technologist operates or oversees radiologic and magnetic imaging equipment to produce diagnostic images. Responsible for preparing patients for radiological procedures and ensuring safety compliance for patients and staff.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Establish rapport with patients to identify service requirements and reduce anxieties by providing explanations and answering questions.
- Prepare patients for radiological procedures by positioning, adjusting immobilization devices, and setting equipment controls.
- Minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff using protection techniques and shielding.
- Follow infection control policies and procedures.
- Maintain quality and production of radiographs by processing images and making necessary adjustments.
- Document patient care services accurately in records.
- Perform preventive maintenance on radiology equipment, troubleshoot malfunctions, and maintain equipment inventory.
- Manage radiology supplies inventory.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by following procedures and regulations.
- Keep professional and technical knowledge current through continuing education and participation in professional societies.
- Complete yearly Age Specific Competency.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Experience: 0-2 years in radiologic technology (no prior experience required).
- Licensing:
- New York State Department of Health Licensed Radiologic Technologist (L.R.T).
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification.
- Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Radiologic Technology.
- Competency in diagnostic procedures, excellent communication skills, teamwork, dependability, and focus on safety and quality.
