Clinical Laboratory Technologist

Location: Johnson City, New York
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Perform routine and specialized clinical laboratory tests under limited supervision.
• Monitor lab processes and verify results in a timely manner.
• With 6 or more years of experience, may supervise daily activities in the absence of the supervisor.
• Follow policies and procedures from UHS Hospitals, NYSDOH, CDC, and Infection Control.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct clinical analyses for routine, special, and automated tests; recognize abnormal values and take appropriate action.
• Perform quality control, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instruments.
• Verify and post results in Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• Obtain laboratory specimens directly from patients as trained.
• Participate in training of students and new employees.
• Evaluate and implement new testing methods and procedures.
• Act in supervisory capacity with 6+ years of experience, including charge tech responsibilities when needed.

Required Experience

• Minimum 6 years of experience in clinical laboratory technology (higher value from job description).
• Up to 3 years of direct experience noted, but 6 years is required for supervisory duties.

Required Education

• Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory technology or equivalent (Grandfathered NYS Licensed CLT).

Required Certifications & Licensure

• New York State Licensed Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
• Proof of grandfathering exception if applicable.
• BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).

Preferred Certifications

• ASCP Specialty Certification (issued by New York State).
