Description

Job Opportunity: Pharmacist (Clinical-Allied)

Location: Middletown, New Jersey


Job Summary

Under general supervision, the pharmacist will:

  • Provide appropriate drug therapy to adult and pediatric patients by thoroughly screening physician's orders, accurately entering orders into the computer system, monitoring patient drug therapy, recommending medication changes, and compounding and dispensing drugs without error.
  • Supervise all technician duties and serve as a drug information resource for healthcare professionals and patients.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Practice

  • Review patient charts and related information for diagnosis, drug history, allergies, body surface area (BSA), procedures, and complications.
  • Follow up on omissions, discrepancies, and therapeutic duplications.
  • Maintain accurate computer profiles for each patient.
  • Prioritize clinical responsibilities and monitor lab/test results to recommend drug therapy changes.
  • Document clinical interventions multiple times daily.
  • Apply knowledge of drug regimens, disease states, investigational protocols, and investigational drug processes.
  • Participate in research projects as requested.
  • Manage unused/missing doses and resolve discrepancies daily.
  • Initiate practice regimens according to institutional guidelines (e.g., antiemetics, chemotherapy).

Order Processing

  • Accurately screen and enter orders into patient profiles.
  • Compound and dispense drugs correctly.
  • Ensure accurate labeling and profile completion including patient details, drug, dose, fluid volume, and special instructions.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited school.

Licensure

  • Valid New Jersey Pharmacist License.
  • Pharmacists licensed in another state but awaiting New Jersey licensure must work under supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

Experience

  • Any amount of experience accepted; if no experience, escalation is required.
  • Hospital experience is required.
  • Chemotherapy practice preferred.
  • Epic EHR experience preferred.
  • Sterile compounding experience preferred.

Skills

  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Senior level computer skills.

Contract Length

  • Approximately 6 weeks (44 days rounded to nearest week).

  • Not explicitly required.
