Job Opportunity: Surgical Technologist (Surg Tech 1 UP - OR(A))

Job Description

• Maintain a sterile environment by applying principles of asepsis.
• Demonstrate competency in technical and psychomotor skills, judgment, and knowledge base.
• Provide age-specific care to obstetrical patients following department policies.
• Assist in organizing and coordinating supplies and equipment for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Maintain a safe environment for patients, co-workers, and self.
• Adhere to safety and legal requirements at hospital and unit levels.
• Charge for equipment and supplies.
• Participate in operating room turnover and setup.
• Maintain and clean equipment, identify items needing repair.
• Perform sterilization, disinfection, and document loads per policy.
• Assist with obtaining supplies, equipment, positioning devices, and patient positioning for procedures.
• Perform scrubbing duties, including teaching classes for medical students, residents, and other students.

Required Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum 1+ years of surgical technologist experience.
• Independently scrub basic surgical procedures.
• Ability to problem solve related to surgical procedures.
• Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, microbiology, and pharmacology for surgical patient care.
• Basic knowledge of electricity, chemistry, computers, robotics, and lasers as related to surgical care.
• Knowledge and practice of patient care concepts and perioperative teamwork.
• Apply sterile technique principles during surgical procedures.

Education

• Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology
  OR
• Certificate of completion of Surgical Technology program

Certifications & Licensure

• BLS (American Heart Association)
• IDPH Fingerprinting

• No prior travel experience required.
