Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide comprehensive nursing care including:

• Executing Licensed Independent Provider’s orders
• Dispensing and administering medications
• Assisting Licensed Independent Provider in examinations and treatment of patients
• Applying nursing and supervisory techniques in the care, treatment, and referrals of inmates/residents
• Attending sick calls with the physician and preparing inmates/residents for examination
• Operating pill call, dispensing medication, and documenting as required
• Examining and assessing inmates/residents with illnesses or injuries and referring to emergency care as needed
• Performing emergency procedures and notifying Licensed Independent Provider for treatment orders
• Coordinating professional medical services provided by contract personnel
• Monitoring inpatient hospitalizations for early releases
• Supervising licensed vocational/practical nursing staff and non-licensed medical staff
• Maintaining security and confidentiality of medical records
• Assisting with review and documentation of medical services
• Monitoring potential catastrophic illnesses and auditing pharmacy use for compliance
• Providing health counseling and education
• Preparing and maintaining various medical and operational records and reports
• Ensuring compliance with applicable laws and facility policies
• Performing searches for contraband and ensuring security in confined areas
• Responding to emergencies, including administering basic emergency medical aid and evacuation

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oklahoma
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum of 1 year of correctional nursing experience, with correctional experience within the last year
• Experience working in a corrections setting

Additional Information

• Must be able to work rotating shifts and perform physically demanding security checks
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow strict security protocols is essential
