Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

• Provide comprehensive nursing care including executing provider orders, medication administration, and assisting in patient examinations and treatments.
• Apply nursing and supervisory techniques in the care and treatment of inmates/residents.
• Attend sick calls with physicians, prepare examination rooms and equipment.
• Operate pill call, dispense medication, and document according to policies.
• Assess new or ill/injured inmates/residents and refer to emergency or appropriate healthcare facilities as needed.
• Perform emergency procedures and coordinate with providers for treatment orders.
• Supervise licensed vocational/practical nursing staff and non-licensed medical staff.
• Monitor inpatient hospitalizations and coordinate professional medical services.
• Maintain confidentiality of medical records and comply with pharmacy laws, especially controlled substances.
• Observe and record inmate/resident behavior and inspect medical units for contraband.
• Provide health counseling and education individually or in groups.
• Assist with medical program accreditation and prepare safety and accident reports.
• Escort and coordinate movement of inmates/residents for medical treatment.
• Perform searches for contraband and ensure security in confined areas, including working rotating shifts.
• Take action to prevent or diffuse disruptive situations and perform rescue functions during emergencies.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oklahoma.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Minimum of 1 year of correctional nursing experience, with correctional experience within the last year required.
