Description

Registered Nurse (RN) - Main Conv Care

Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Provide competent healthcare to patients and families within scope of practice.
Ensure adherence to established standards of care and complete, accurate documentation.
Deliver health and wellness education to individuals and groups.
Act as preceptor and support development of staff and healthcare students.
Provide leadership for quality improvement initiatives.
Administer medications via multiple routes (IM, PO, Rectal, IV, SQ, Inhaled).
Perform procedures including ear washes, nebulizer treatments, peak flows, splint applications, crutch training, wound care, point of care testing, IV starts and therapy, vision screenings, EKG, catheterizations, and suture/staple removal.
Assist providers with procedures such as vaginal exams, suture/staple placement, and incision and drainage.
Participate as a member of the Code Team when needed.
Serve as nurse lead when assigned during shifts.
Conduct patient education and exam room rounding.
Collect and process specimens.
Provide written instructions regarding procedures, medications, or follow-up as directed.
Assist with prescription medication refills per protocols.
Perform telephone triage and communicate test results to patients.
Maintain department-specific competencies related to point of care testing, equipment handling, and specialty training.
Perform cleaning of instruments and rooming patients (collecting chief complaint, vital signs, medication reconciliation).

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing
Minimum 3 years of Urgent Care nursing experience, including experience within the last year
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Experience with Epic electronic health record system
