Registered Nurse (RN) - Main Conv Care
Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide competent healthcare to patients and families within scope of practice.
- Ensure adherence to established standards of care and complete, accurate documentation.
- Deliver health and wellness education to individuals and groups.
- Act as preceptor and support development of staff and healthcare students.
- Provide leadership for quality improvement initiatives.
- Administer medications via multiple routes (IM, PO, Rectal, IV, SQ, Inhaled).
- Perform procedures including ear washes, nebulizer treatments, peak flows, splint applications, crutch training, wound care, point of care testing, IV starts and therapy, vision screenings, EKG, catheterizations, and suture/staple removal.
- Assist providers with procedures such as vaginal exams, suture/staple placement, and incision and drainage.
- Participate as a member of the Code Team when needed.
- Serve as nurse lead when assigned during shifts.
- Conduct patient education and exam room rounding.
- Collect and process specimens.
- Provide written instructions regarding procedures, medications, or follow-up as directed.
- Assist with prescription medication refills per protocols.
- Perform telephone triage and communicate test results to patients.
- Maintain department-specific competencies related to point of care testing, equipment handling, and specialty training.
- Perform cleaning of instruments and rooming patients (collecting chief complaint, vital signs, medication reconciliation).
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 3 years of Urgent Care nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
