Job Opportunity: Surgical Technologist II - CVOR

Location: Raleigh, North Carolina
Employment Type: Clinical Allied
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Perform technical duties in all operating room specialty service areas following accepted standards.
  • Maintain, assemble, handle, and sterilize specialty surgical instruments.
  • Follow aseptic techniques and proactively identify and correct contamination or breaks in sterile procedure.
  • Perform surgical counts and manage discrepancies according to policy.
  • Establish and maintain sterile fields independently, ensuring the surgical team maintains a sterile environment.
  • Label drugs, solutions, and surgical specimens accurately.
  • Assist in planning, setup, and organization of instruments, supplies, and surgical drapes for optimal accessibility.
  • Support the surgeon by understanding patient anatomy and surgical procedure requirements.
  • Assist with patient positioning on the operating table.
  • Review physician preference lists and verify supplies and instruments for each procedure.
  • Modify scrubbing procedures as needed and communicate changes to the surgical team.
  • Respond to surgical emergencies following emergency management plans.
  • Inventory, receive, and store supplies under surgical services leadership.
  • Serve as a role model and mentor for new hires and peers, participating in training and evaluations.
  • Identify and report defective instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  • Assist with restocking operating and procedure rooms.
  • Support registered nurses during intraoperative phases.
  • Participate in data collection for research projects under RN direction.
  • Operate and troubleshoot complex operating room equipment.
  • Perform daily cleaning, stocking, and verification of emergency carts and trays.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a CVOR Technologist, with experience within the last year.
  • Knowledge of vascular standard OR cases.
  • Knowledge of hybrid vascular cases.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; or Graduate of a Military Training Program in Surgical Technology; or formal education/training may be substituted for individuals with 3+ years of prior experience as a surgical technologist.
