Cath Lab Manager

Location: Holmdel, New Jersey
Employment Type: Clinical
Contract Length: 14 weeks


Job Summary

The Cath Lab Manager is responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the Cath Lab, including EP, Neuro, Vascular, and Cardiac DAR areas. This leadership role oversees patient throughput, staff performance, and all aspects affecting cath lab flow and capacity. Key responsibilities include managing lab utilization, first case starts, room turnover, patient safety, policy adherence, quality improvement, and risk management.


Essential Job Functions

  • Develop schedules and daily team assignments
  • Collaborate with Cardiac Cath Supervisor and Lead Tech on daily operations
  • Supervise patient flow in procedural and recovery areas
  • Identify and resolve shift problems promptly
  • Develop and maintain processes to support Cath Lab utilization and improve procedural efficiency
  • Monitor compliance with internal and external regulatory standards (e.g., Joint Commission, state and federal codes)
  • Ensure adherence to legal requirements related to risk management and patient rights
  • Create and monitor unit-based performance indicators, including standards development, education, credentialing, performance appraisal, utilization review, and risk management
  • Direct staff in outcomes-based practice application

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in cardiac catheterization laboratory, including current endovascular/cardiac catheterization experience
  • Cardiac Cath Lab experience within the last year
  • Minimum of 10 years of clinical cardiology experience
  • At least 3 years of critical care experience
  • At least 3 years of interventional radiology experience
  • At least 3 years of perioperative or closely-related field experience
  • Experience in managerial roles
  • Nursing License (current and valid)
  • AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Experience with right heart catheterization
  • Experience with left heart catheterization
  • Experience with permanent pacemakers
  • Experience with percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI)
  • Experience with loop recorders
  • Experience with peripheral procedures
  • Experience with transesophageal echocardiography (TEE)
  • Experience with permacath insertions
  • Experience with fistulograms
  • Experience with venograms
  • Experience with port insertions

Working Conditions

  • Regular contact with medical personnel, patients, and visitors
  • Physical requirements include lifting a minimum of 5 lbs., pushing/pulling at least 10 lbs., and standing for a minimum of 4 hours daily
