Description

Registered Nurse - Advanced Care

Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Perform all nursing responsibilities and duties specific to the unit's scope of service.
Implement procedures and theories related to advanced care nursing practice.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care to support the healthcare team.
Complete initial patient assessments upon admission and develop appropriate plans of care based on patient and family needs.
Implement and modify plans of care and nursing interventions through continuous evaluation.
Ensure patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing safety hazards and incidents.
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, including private discussions when necessary.
Provide constructive feedback to peers and engage in professional development activities.
Monitor patients 24/7 for seizure activity.
Collaborate with critical care teams and hospitalists for advanced care patients.
Utilize meaningful hourly rounding, bedside shift reports, and whiteboards to enhance patient and family communication.

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Minimum of 1 year of neurology nursing experience within the last year.
Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients and trauma care.
Experience in inpatient and acute care settings.
Experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
