Description

Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Shelby, Montana
Employment Type: Travel Health Services
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive nursing care including executing provider orders, administering medications, assisting in examinations and treatments, and applying nursing and supervisory techniques in the care and treatment of patients. Responsibilities include monitoring inpatient hospitalizations, supervising licensed and non-licensed nursing staff, maintaining confidentiality of medical records, auditing pharmacy use, providing health counseling and education, and assisting with accreditation processes and safety reporting.


Responsibilities

  • Execute licensed provider’s orders and administer medications.
  • Assist providers during patient examinations and treatments.
  • Monitor inpatient hospitalizations and coordinate early releases when appropriate.
  • Supervise and guide licensed vocational/practical nurses and non-licensed medical staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of medical records.
  • Audit pharmacy use for compliance with formulary and controlled substance laws.
  • Observe and document patient behavior.
  • Inspect medical units for contraband and ensure safe storage or disposal of supplies.
  • Provide individual or group health counseling and education.
  • Assist with preparation and maintenance of medical records, reports, and logs.
  • Interpret medical, legal, and regulatory documents.
  • Support accreditation efforts by providing appropriate medical services.
  • Prepare safety and accident reports and respond to serious incidents and emergencies.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Montana.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Minimum of 1 year of correctional nursing experience within the last year.
