Registered Nurse – Cardiac/Pulmonary Medical/Surgical
Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide nursing care for acute and chronically ill cardiac and pulmonary patients.
- Perform initial patient assessments upon admission and develop individualized plans of care.
- Implement and modify nursing interventions and patient care procedures based on ongoing evaluation.
- Administer medications, manage pain, perform IV venipuncture, blood administration, and monitor labs.
- Prepare patients for procedures and assist with discharge planning and patient education for safe transitions.
- Document all care accurately using electronic medical records (EMR).
- Participate in team huddles and ensure effective communication among healthcare team members.
- Delegate tasks appropriately and follow up to ensure standards of care are met.
- Provide basic patient care such as turning and toileting.
- Manage conflict and maintain professional communication within the team.
- Promote patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing hazards.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
- Minimum of 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience with Epic electronic medical records system
