Description

Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit

Location: Cincinnati, Ohio
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

The Progressive Care Unit (PCU) is a fast-paced unit providing intermediate-level nursing care for adult patients following medical procedures, surgical interventions, or diagnostic treatments. The unit focuses on short-stay patients expected to be discharged within 24 hours and those admitted with chest pain or recovering from procedures such as cardiac catheterization, endoscopic interventions, electrophysiology studies, interventional radiology, or minor surgeries. Care includes cardiac monitoring, moderate sedation recovery, and early ambulation to support rapid recovery and discharge planning.


Job Responsibilities

  • Telemetry monitoring and advanced cardiac support
  • Chest pain care with expedited testing and follow-up
  • Post-procedural care for moderate to lower acuity patients
  • Patient-centered, goal-directed care focused on rapid recovery
  • Multidisciplinary collaboration with procedural departments and care management teams
  • Strong focus on patient safety, throughput, and satisfaction

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Diploma of Nursing

Licensure & Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association

Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
  • PCU experience within the last year
