Description
Registered Respiratory Therapist
Location: Brooklyn, New York
Employment Type: Clinical - Allied - DPC
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Position Summary
- Provide respiratory care as an integral member of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate respiratory therapy treatments based on physician diagnosis and care instructions.
- Work in a fast-paced environment delivering high-quality, compassionate respiratory care.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assess patients and recommend respiratory therapy treatments.
- Administer respiratory therapy including aerosolized medication, sputum inductions, ventilator/BiPAP management.
- Monitor patients on mechanical ventilation and adjust treatment as needed.
- Document patient treatment, response, and progress.
- Perform diagnostic tests such as pulmonary function and sleep studies.
- Maintain and operate respiratory therapy equipment.
- Respond to emergency calls (e.g., CODE 99, Trauma, RRT) and assist with airway management and CPR.
- Consult with physicians regarding treatment modalities.
- Educate patients and families on equipment use and self-care techniques.
- Participate in and attend required in-service education programs.
- Maintain supplies and equipment in assigned areas.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged standing, reaching, and walking throughout the workday.
- Ability to stoop, bend, lift, and carry items up to 25 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in New York
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification from NBRC
- Current BLS certification
- Associate degree
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, including experience within the last year
