Description

Registered Nurse - Obstetrics Inpatient

Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Perform all nursing responsibilities specific to the obstetrics inpatient unit.
  • Implement procedures and theories related to obstetric nursing care.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
  • Complete initial patient assessments upon admission and develop appropriate plans of care based on patient and family needs.
  • Implement and modify plans of care through continuous evaluation.
  • Ensure patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing hazards.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare team members to resolve issues.
  • Provide constructive feedback to peers and engage in professional development.
  • Perform patient assessments and provide infant care.
  • Administer medications as ordered by physicians.
  • Document all care in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Fulfill all departmental competency requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 3 years of obstetrics inpatient nursing experience, including maternal-newborn care
  • Maternal-newborn nursing experience within the last year
  • Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients (Trauma 1 experience)
  • OB/GYN nursing experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • Experience with Epic electronic medical record system
