Job Opportunity: Surgical Technologist II - Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)

Location: Raleigh, North Carolina

Job Summary

• Perform technical duties in all operating room specialty service areas following accepted standards.
• Maintain, assemble, handle, and sterilize specialty surgical instruments using aseptic techniques.
• Identify and correct contamination or breaks in aseptic technique.
• Perform surgical counts and manage discrepancies according to policy.
• Establish and maintain sterile fields independently, ensuring the surgical team maintains sterility.
• Label drugs, solutions, and surgical specimens accurately.
• Assist in planning and setting up instruments, supplies, and surgical drapes for optimal accessibility.
• Support the surgeon by understanding patient anatomy and surgical procedure requirements.
• Assist in patient positioning on the operating table.
• Review physician preference lists and verify supplies and instruments for procedures.
• Modify scrubbing procedures as needed and communicate changes to the surgical team.
• Respond to surgical emergencies following emergency management plans.
• Inventory, receive, and store supplies under leadership direction.
• Serve as a role model and mentor for new hires and peers, participating in training and evaluations.
• Report defective instruments, supplies, and equipment.
• Assist with restocking operating and procedure rooms.
• Support registered nurses during intraoperative phases.
• Participate in data collection for research projects.
• Operate and troubleshoot complex operating room equipment.
• Perform daily cleaning, stocking, and verification of emergency carts and trays.

Required Skills & Experience

• At least 1 year of experience as a Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Technologist, with experience within the last year.
• Knowledge of various vascular standard OR cases, including hybrid vascular cases such as EVAR and TCAR.
• Surgical Technologist experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• High School Diploma or equivalent, combined with either graduation from a Military Training Program in Surgical Technology, or formal education/training that is substituted for at least 3 years of prior experience as a surgical technician.
