Description

Registered Dietician

Location: Bronx, New York
Employment Type: Acute - Allied
Contract Length: 14 weeks


Job Summary

  • Monitor patients for and provide education on food/drug interactions.
  • Record food and drug interactions in the education section.
  • Consult with physicians regarding appropriate diet modification.

Job Responsibilities

  • Screen and assess patients accurately and timely based on levels of care.
  • Determine patients' nutritional needs and status; provide follow-up care.
  • Interview patients and/or families to obtain history of food habits and preferences.
  • Interpret relevant laboratory, physical, and social data as it applies to nutrition care.
  • Provide nutrition education and document patient's diet, diet instructions, and understanding.
  • Modify patient menus as needed.

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the specialty.

Education

  • Graduate from an accredited college/university with a degree in Dietetics or Foods and Nutrition.

Certifications & Licensure

  • For Acute care: Registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian (Primary Source Verification required).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Additional Notes

  • Dietitians assigned to Post-Acute Care (Long-Term Care) facilities must have New York State Certification as a “Dietitian-Nutritionist” issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) at the time of hire (not applicable for this acute role).
