Description
Registered Nurse - Advanced Care
Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Perform all nursing responsibilities and duties specific to the unit’s scope of service.
- Implement procedures and theories related to advanced care nursing practice.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care to support the healthcare team.
- Complete initial patient assessments upon admission and develop appropriate plans of care based on patient and family needs.
- Implement and modify plans of care and nursing interventions through continuous evaluation.
- Ensure patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing safety hazards and incidents.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, including private discussions when necessary.
- Provide constructive feedback to peers and collaborate to expand professional knowledge.
- Identify personal learning needs and take initiative for professional development.
- Fulfill all departmental competency requirements.
- Monitor EMU (Epilepsy Monitoring Unit) patients 24/7 for seizure activity.
- Collaborate with critical care teams and hospitalists for advanced care patients.
- Utilize meaningful hourly rounding, bedside shift reports, and whiteboards to ensure good communication with patients and families.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- Minimum of 1 year of neurology experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience in trauma nursing
- Experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU), stepdown, or intermediate care settings
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
