Description

Registered Nurse - Advanced Care

Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Perform all nursing responsibilities and duties specific to the unit’s scope of service.
Implement procedures and theories related to advanced care nursing practice.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care to support the healthcare team.
Complete initial patient assessments upon admission and develop appropriate plans of care based on patient and family needs.
Implement and modify plans of care and nursing interventions through continuous evaluation.
Ensure patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing safety hazards and incidents.
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, including private discussions when necessary.
Provide constructive feedback to peers and collaborate to expand professional knowledge.
Identify personal learning needs and take initiative for professional development.
Fulfill all departmental competency requirements.
Monitor EMU (Epilepsy Monitoring Unit) patients 24/7 for seizure activity.
Collaborate with critical care teams and hospitalists for advanced care patients.
Utilize meaningful hourly rounding, bedside shift reports, and whiteboards to ensure good communication with patients and families.

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Illinois
Minimum of 1 year of neurology experience within the last year
BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Experience in trauma nursing
Experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU), stepdown, or intermediate care settings
Experience with Epic electronic health record system
