Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Operating Room Pediatrics
Location: Chapel Hill, North Carolina
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provide competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards in a hospital setting. Responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care using the nursing process, reporting to nursing leadership.
Essential Duties
- Participate in ongoing education to meet learning needs.
- Use patient education materials appropriate to pediatric patients and assess readiness to learn.
- Identify expected patient outcomes and participate in interdisciplinary team discussions.
- Deliver care to patients with complex problems, addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
- Perform bedside point of care testing as required.
- Organize and prioritize care based on patient and family needs.
- Consult resources timely for complex care issues and discharge planning.
- Support professional growth and participate in unit goals and performance improvement.
- Promote a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment.
- Assess and anticipate discharge needs, fostering family advocacy.
- Collaborate with patients and families to plan care, considering cultural and ethnic factors.
- Prioritize tasks for patients with complex problems.
- Engage with current research applicable to nursing practice.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina.
- One (1) year of nursing experience.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited school of Nursing.
- One (1) year of recent experience working in Pediatric Operating Room (OR) nursing.
- Experience working with pediatric patients.
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
