Job Opportunity: Scrub/Surgical Tech

Location: Clovis, New Mexico

Job Summary

Provides assistance and support to surgeons by preparing and providing instruments and equipment during surgical procedures in the Operating Room. Works under the supervision of the surgeon. Facilitates a safe, effective, and orderly operating room to maximize patient safety.

Essential Duties

• Problem-solve in relation to the procedure being performed.
• Maintain current knowledge of various equipment, procedures, and supplies.
• Adhere to proper surgical procedures of aseptic technique and safety in the use of instruments and equipment.
• Perform instrument counts prior to each procedure and maintain accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments during the procedure.
• Secure and prepare all supplies and instruments required for surgical intervention before procedures.
• Ensure preparation and maintenance of the sterile field in the OR.
• Prepare patient skin for surgical treatment.
• Position and re-position patient during surgery.
• Help monitor patients during surgery.
• Provide supportive care during the pre-operative phase.
• Perform scrub functions.
• Ensure specimens are correctly handled and routed properly.
• Maintain current knowledge of anatomy/physiology and medications used intraoperatively.
• Stay updated with developments in the field through seminars, workshops, and publications.
• Follow all federal, state, and departmental safety procedures.
• Floating between departments and/or local locations within 20 miles is required.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technician.
• Surgical Technician experience within the last year.
• High school diploma or GED, or completion of a surgical technician training program.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Orthopedic, ENT, and/or Vascular surgery is a plus.
• Experience with Epic software preferred but not required (training available on-site).
• Certified Surgical Technician (CST) through NBSTSA or Tech in Surgery certification through NCCT.

• Prior travel experience is not specified as required.
• Must be willing to float between departments and local locations within a 20-mile radius.
