Description

Respiratory Care Practitioner

Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Contract Length: 14 weeks

Job Description

Disassemble, wash, rinse, dry, and package respiratory equipment.
Evaluate patient respiratory care outcomes according to care plans.
Serve as a role model demonstrating clinical judgment, technical skills, and knowledge in respiratory care.
Prepare, test, and check respiratory therapy equipment for safe operation; report malfunctions.
Maintain and process respiratory equipment.
Accurately document respiratory care on flow sheets and care plans in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Complete assessments on ventilator patients and others receiving respiratory care services.
Recommend timely interventions and further treatment or referrals as needed.
Record procedures, patient responses, and compliance with sleep therapy documentation; communicate adverse effects to respiratory care practitioners and physicians.
Evaluate patients for routine respiratory therapy in inpatient units and the Emergency Room.
Obtain and analyze arterial, venous, and capillary blood gases.
Assist with cleaning respiratory care equipment and stocking supplies on inpatient units.

Required Qualifications

Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license in Illinois
Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license
Respiratory Care Practitioner with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year
Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy
NBRC Certified Respiratory Therapist
BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
