Description
Registered Nurse (Advanced Care/Med Surg)
Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Shift: Night
Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide professional nursing care to a designated group of patients using the nursing process, current nursing trends, technology, and resources.
- Perform unit-specific responsibilities within the scope of service.
- Complete initial patient assessments upon admission and develop, implement, and modify individualized plans of care based on patient and family needs.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care for use by the healthcare team.
- Promote patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing hazards and incidents.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, including bedside shift reports and hourly rounding.
- Collaborate with critical care teams for ICU lite patients and hospitalists for advanced care patients.
- Participate in professional development by providing and receiving constructive feedback and identifying personal learning needs.
- Fulfill all departmental competency requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
- Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year.
- Med Surg nursing experience.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
