Physical Therapist - Therapy Acute
Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Allied Health
Shift: Day
Hours: 8 hours/day, 40 hours/week
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Evaluate and treat patients of all ages, modifying plans of care as appropriate.
- Serve as a clinical resource and role model for staff and students.
- Perform patient transfers with assistance as needed, using safe body mechanics to reduce injury risk.
- Design and adjust plans of care integrating goals, treatment, outcomes, and discharge plans based on patient response and evidence.
- Educate patients, families, caregivers, students, and healthcare providers using effective teaching methods.
- Evaluate clinical findings to determine physical therapy diagnoses and outcomes.
- Perform examinations using reliable and valid methods relevant to the patient’s chief complaint and history.
- Produce documentation in accordance with clinical process policies and regulatory standards.
- Screen patients to determine the need for therapy services when appropriate.
- Use and monitor support personnel according to legal and ethical guidelines, providing regular feedback.
- Implement functional intervention plans considering patients’ functional and emotional needs.
- Modify approaches based on patient behavior and performance.
- Utilize standardized outcome measures uniformly to reflect functional performance accurately.
- Collaborate with patients, families, and significant others throughout rehabilitation, providing education and family training as needed.
- Supervise Physical Therapist Assistants (PTA) and rehabilitation technicians in compliance with regulatory agencies.
- Communicate patient status, activity/transfer recommendations, discharge disposition, and equipment needs clearly with the medical team.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Physical Therapist license in Illinois
- Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
