Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel Position
Location: Watonga, Oklahoma
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days or nights (based on facility needs)
Hours: 36 hours per week guaranteed (typically 36-48 hours/week), 12-hour shifts
Citizenship: U.S. citizenship required for clearance
Clearance: Requires ICE clearance (4-6 weeks processing time) involving thorough background and credit investigation
Job Summary
- Provide comprehensive nursing care including executing provider orders, medication administration, and assisting in patient examinations and treatments.
- Apply nursing and supervisory techniques in the care and treatment of inmates/residents.
- Perform technical and clinical procedures within scope of education and licensure.
- Attend sick calls with physician, prepare inmates/residents for examination, and manage medication dispensing and documentation.
- Assess new or ill/injured inmates/residents and refer to emergency care as needed.
- Perform emergency procedures and coordinate with providers for treatment orders.
- Supervise licensed vocational/practical nursing staff and non-licensed medical staff.
- Monitor inpatient hospitalizations for early releases when appropriate.
- Maintain security and confidentiality of medical records.
- Assist with review and documentation of medical services and monitor catastrophic illnesses.
- Audit pharmacy use for formulary adherence and comply with controlled substance laws.
- Observe and record inmate/resident behavior and inspect medical unit for contraband risks.
- Provide health counseling and education individually or in groups.
- Prepare and maintain various medical and operational records and reports.
- Interpret medical, legal, and regulatory documents.
- Support accreditation processes by providing appropriate medical services.
- Prepare safety and accident reports and respond to serious incidents and emergencies.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oklahoma.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum of 1 year of correctional nursing experience, with correctional experience within the last year.
