Description
Registered Nurse – Emergency Department
Location: Goldsboro, North Carolina
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provide competent clinical nursing care in an emergency department setting, coordinating and delivering patient care using the nursing process. Responsible for assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and communication to ensure continuity and quality of care.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver care to patients with complex problems, addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
- Perform bedside point of care testing as required.
- Organize and prioritize patient care based on patient and family needs.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to evaluate and revise patient care plans.
- Assess patient and family readiness to learn and use appropriate education materials.
- Anticipate discharge needs and support patient and family advocacy.
- Participate in unit goals, performance improvement, and cost-effective care initiatives.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and secure environment.
- Communicate effectively within and across departments.
- Stay informed about public policy and regulatory guidelines affecting healthcare.
- Engage in professional growth activities and provide feedback to coworkers.
- Utilize research and evidence-based practice to inform care.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited school of nursing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
