Registered Nurse - MedSurg

Location: Chapel Hill, North Carolina

Job Summary

Provide competent clinical nursing care in a hospital setting, coordinating and delivering patient care using the nursing process. Responsible for assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and communication to ensure continuity and quality of care for medical-surgical patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver care to patients with complex medical-surgical needs, addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects.
• Perform bedside point of care testing as required.
• Organize and prioritize patient care based on individual and family needs.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to evaluate and revise patient care plans.
• Assess patient and family readiness to learn and provide appropriate education materials.
• Anticipate discharge needs and support patient and family advocacy.
• Participate in unit goals, performance improvement, and cost-effective care initiatives.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment.
• Engage in professional development and intra/interdepartmental collaboration.
• Stay informed about public policy and regulatory guidelines affecting healthcare.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
• Minimum of 1 year of medical-surgical nursing experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited school of Nursing
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)

Preferred Qualifications

• BSN or MSN from an accredited school of Nursing.
