Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit

Location: Goldsboro, North Carolina
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Provide competent clinical nursing care in a hospital setting, coordinating and delivering patient care using the nursing process. Responsible for assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and communication to ensure continuity and quality of care for patients with complex needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver care to patients with complex physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
• Perform bedside point of care testing as required.
• Organize and prioritize patient care based on individual and family needs.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to evaluate and revise patient care plans.
• Assess patient and family readiness to learn and use appropriate education materials.
• Anticipate discharge needs and support patient/family advocacy.
• Participate in unit goals, performance improvement, and promote cost-effective care.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and secure environment.
• Engage in professional development and intra/interdepartmental collaboration.
• Stay informed about public policy and regulatory guidelines affecting healthcare.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU), with at least some experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing school
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
