Description
Respiratory Care Practitioner
Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours (12-hour shifts)
Job Description
- Perform routine and critical respiratory care procedures under supervision.
- Provide care for Neonatal, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric populations.
- Disassemble, clean, dry, and package respiratory equipment.
- Evaluate patient respiratory care outcomes according to care plans.
- Prepare, test, and maintain respiratory therapy equipment; report malfunctions.
- Accurately document respiratory care and charge in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Complete assessments on ventilator and other respiratory care patients.
- Recommend timely interventions and further treatment or referrals.
- Record patient responses and compliance with sleep therapy; communicate findings to physicians.
- Evaluate patients for respiratory therapy in inpatient units and Emergency Room.
- Obtain and analyze arterial, venous, and capillary blood gases.
- Assist with cleaning respiratory equipment and stocking supplies on inpatient units.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Illinois
- Respiratory Therapist experience, including at least 1 year within the last year
- Respiratory Care Practitioner experience
- NBRC Certified Respiratory Therapist
- Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
