Description
Registered Nurse - Surgery
Location: Peoria, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Shift: Day
Hours: 10 hours/day, 40 hours/week
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provide professional nursing care to a designated group of patients using the nursing process, current nursing trends, technology, and resources. Responsible for patient care, safety, and documentation within the scope of the surgical unit.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform all unit-specific nursing duties and responsibilities.
- Implement procedures and theories related to surgical nursing practice.
- Complete initial patient assessments upon admission and develop individualized plans of care.
- Implement and modify nursing interventions and patient care plans based on ongoing evaluation.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care for use by the healthcare team.
- Ensure patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing hazards and incidents.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and provide constructive feedback to support professional development.
- Identify personal learning needs and pursue appropriate solutions.
- Fulfill all departmental competency requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
- Minimum of 3 years of medical-surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Perioperative nursing experience.
