Surgical Technologist

Location

• Clinton Township, Michigan

Job Summary

• Assist surgical team by handling instruments, supplies, and equipment during general surgical procedures.
• Prepare operating room by setting up tables, instruments, and supplies according to the surgery type.
• Ensure proper functioning of instruments and equipment; report repairs as needed.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized operating room environment.
• Provide comfort and support to pre-operative patients with sensitivity to their care and privacy.
• Assist Registered Nurse with admitting, transferring, and discharging patients in the OR.
• Participate in department education, audits, and governance changes.
• May train or precept new Surgical Technologists.
• Respond to emergent situations following established procedures.

Schedule

• 2 days per week with 8-hour shifts
• 2 days per week with 12-hour shifts
• Hours: 6:50 AM – 3:20 PM and 6:50 AM – 7:20 PM
• On-call: 1 Saturday every 5 weeks (12-hour shift)

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Certification as a Surgical Technologist
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Physical ability to lift and move patients, push/pull/lift case carts, instrument trays, and equipment
• Ability to work in patient care areas with potential exposure to communicable diseases, unpleasant odors, acute patient conditions, hazardous gases
• Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of Surgical Technologist experience
